WHAT IS ARTHRITIS?

Arthritis is degenerative loss of cartilage over time. It is a condition that involves the inflammation of a joint.

With overuse or age, the cartilage covering the bones of a joint begins to break down.

Some people may have arthritis in their hands, knees, shoulders, or hips, while others experience it in multiple places in their body.

Arthritis pain can be debilitating for some.

Arthritis pain can feel like anything from stiffness and swelling to burning or aching. It can even cause a reduced range of motion in the affected joint.

What Causes Arthritis?

Arthritis can be the result of several different types of damage to the joints.

Risk factors to arthritis can include…

Family History • Age • Activity • Previous Joint Injury • Smoking • Obesity • Previous surgeries • & Others

According to recent statistics published by the CDC, arthritis affects—

18.1% Male & 23.5% Female

That’s 22.7% of the US Population.

The Different Types of Arthritis

OSTEOARTHRITIS

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis and comes from everyday life. Wear and tear on the joints can, over time, lead to the deterioration of cartilage around the joints.

Other factors such as a previous injury or surgery, smoking, and obesity can also contribute to degeneration of the cartilage.

This breakdown process normally takes place over a number of years and may go undetected.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Rheumatoid Arthritis is actually an autoimmune disorder in which your own body no longer recognizes the cartilage in the joint as being your own.

This can lead to the lining (synovial membrane) to become inflamed and swollen.

It can eventually lead to the destruction of the cartilage.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Regenerative Medicine Treatment for Arthritis in Kansas City

Cellular therapy for arthritis is a very promising treatment in the world of medicine.

Motus Biologics offers regenerative medicine in Kansas City to help our patients treat arthritis, injuries, and more.

WHAT ARE Regenerative CELL therapies?

Mesenchymal cells are natural products from your body that, when injected into a point of pain or injury, can help create a pro-healing environment to restore structure and function to damage or diseased tissues.

In the coming months and years, regenerative cell therapy injections are headed toward becoming a leading treatment for arthritis in Kansas City and across the country.

Benefits of REgenerative cell treatment for arthritis

While mesenchymal cell treatment for arthritis is still being researched, findings at this point have shown that cellular therapies can uniquely fight arthritis pain when used as injection therapy alone and in conjunction to orthopedic surgical procedures.

It’s important to note that there is no cure for arthritis. However, where traditional treatments like surgery are painful, expensive, and time-consuming, regenerative medicine options are more cost effective, less disruptive to your daily life, and can help relieve pain in a natural, non-invasive way.

Meet Dr. Leslie Michaud

Motus Biologics was founded by Dr. Leslie Michaud, a stem cell doctor in Kansas City who attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her internship and residency in family medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

She returned for fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas from which she graduated in 2013. She later trained with Bluetail Medical Group, experts in the field of regenerative medicine, to learn how to safely and effectively perform these treatments, and is now an affiliate of their practice.
