Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a revolutionary and conservative approach to treating many orthopedic conditions. PRP promotes the healing of tissues that have been injured or worn down over years of use. PRP is blood product that has been concentrated to consist mostly of platelets. PRP uses the primary function of the platelet to start the inflammatory response. Using PRP can result in faster mobility, decreased pain and increased function in joints.

To date, tissue-specific stem cells are the standard of practice. These are obtained from the bone marrow and adipose of patients. Bone marrow is obtained from the back part of the hip in the office setting under local anesthesia. The adipose is obtained from the low back, thigh, or abdomen; also under local anesthesia. The concentrate includes similar growth factors found in PRP as well as substances known as cytokines, which bring more healing cells to the site. The concentrate is injected into the affected site under ultrasound-guidance to ensure accurate placement.

Tenex Health TX® or percutaneous tenotomy is a minimally invasive procedure used in the treatment of chronic tendon pain of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and foot. This procedure involves the use of ultrasound combined with an FDA approved device through the skin needle device that removes diseased and degenerated tissues that are commonly the cause of pain. Tenex is an outpatient procedure that significantly reduces the risk and recovery time associated with traditional open or arthroscopic surgeries. This procedure can be used in combination with PRP and adipose grafting to promote healing and improve outcomes.
